Jordan Kendrick
CHS Class of 2012
To say that Jordan Kendrick was one of a kind would be an understatement! He was a big personality in his family and community and for that reason left an indelible mark in this world. Everyone that knew him appreciated his playful character and his wonderful laugh.
Jordan sang everywhere he went and became locally known for this prodigious talent. He won many awards during his time singing with the Madrigal Singers and Choirs at Cabrillo High School. He had a strong faith in God and loved the Pentecostal community he was a part of. His musical mentors in church and his teacher, Jennifer Peterson, greatly impacted his life and helped to shape his musical gifts.
Jordan also had a deeply sensitive side which he expressed through the poems and songs he wrote. The theme of persevering with faith, despite great challenges, is a theme that he often wrote about. Jordan always wanted to lift others up and encourage those who were struggling. In this, he was an inspiration because he had tribulations of his own to contend with, but he set a good example through his optimistic spirit.
Jordan went on to study Business Management and Teacher Education at Allan Hancock College. During this time, he was awarded the Rob Bruno Memorial Scholarship and received many service commendations for his volunteer work while a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Jordan was awarded his degrees posthumously and these stand as a testament of his perseverance despite the balances. Epilepsy took an exceptional person from this world and we can only imagine how much he would have accomplished if he were still here with us. He is now a star in heaven and continues to influence us with his delightful spirit!
